Fiat 500 D

Fiat 500 cabriolet

Some cars can't be simply driven, they have to be lived.

The Fiat 500 D is one of these. An icon of the Italian economic boom, the protagonist of the streets of the 1960s, the car that made entire generations fall in love with its timeless charm.

But there is a detail that makes it even more special: its unmistakable suicide doors. Hinged at the back, they open in the opposite direction to modern cars, a vintage touch that transforms every entrance into a real journey into the past.

Small on the outside, big on the inside

The Fiat 500 D, produced from 1960 to 1965, is the heir to the legendary 500 N. It maintains the 499.5 cc two-cylinder engine, but with slightly increased power (17.5 HP) and some improvements that make it even more reliable. Despite its compact size, the space on board was carefully designed by engineer Dante Giacosa: two comfortable seats in front, a rear bench seat and a canvas sunroof, to enjoy the road with the wind in your hair.

What to know before renting it

Strictly manual transmission: if you have never tried a vintage 500, we recommend doing a short test before setting off. Remember to familiarize yourself with the double-shift! Walk-around performance: its natural habitat is scenic roads, villages and the countryside... certainly not for motorways! Authentic driving: the driving position, the noise of the twin-cylinder, the soft suspension... every kilometre is a dive into the 1960s.

If you dream of an experience from another era, the Fiat 500 D is ready to take you where time seems to have stopped.
